Air Transportation

Airfare to Argentina:

This is a repeat from my E-mail invitation to you of March 09th which explains your two options for getting to Argentina in detail. As I mentioned, Anne and I investigated the best flight service, schedule, airlines, cost, etc., and found the per person airfare cost to be what we consider, fairly high. All of the fares we found on the internet were running a minimum of $1,300 to $1,600 per person. We were sure that we could do better than that so we checked on getting a group airfare and had great success.

We confirmed 32 seats with LAN Chile Airlines for our Argentina trip. The gateway city will be out of Miami, FL. Here is the flight schedule:

Tue. Nov. 09 MIA/SCL LA 501 9:40PM / 6:05AM next day
(Departon Nov. 09 and arrive Santiago, Chile on Nov. 10, making connection on to Mendoza)
Wed. Nov. 10 SCL / MDZ LA 930 9:00AM / 10:55AM
Sun. Nov. 14 MDZ / AEP LA 4241 9:40AM / 11:20AM
Thu. Nov. 18 EZE / MIA 4M 4520 10:30PM / 6:45AM
(Departon Nov. 18 and arrive in Miami on Nov. 19 at 6:45 A.M.)

FYI – Above airport codes: MIA – Miami / SCL –Santiago, Chile / MDZ – Mendoza Argentina / Aeroparque Jorge Newbery (AEP) – Buenos Aires Domestic Airport / Ezeiza International Airport (EZE) – Buenos Aires International Airport

The group airfare, roundtrip Miami/Mendoza/Buenos Aires, is $920 per person including the tax (tax is approximately $110 and is subject to change). This is an exceptional airfare and anyone joining us on our D'Vine Wine trip is more than welcome to take advantage of the group air that we have secured. For your information, LAN Chile airlines are flying basically new equipment and offer excellent in-flight service. LAN Chile is not a "Third World" air carrier as some of you might be imagining, so fear not…you will be in good, professional hands throughout your trip.

For those of you who advised us that you'll be using D'Vine Wine's group air – You will need to purchase a roundtrip ticket from your home city to Miami, keeping in mind that you are going on an international flight and should allow a minimum 2 ½ hours (3 hours if possible…after all it is Miami) connection time. We do suggest that you hold off purchasing these tickets until we are certain that we have the minimum 24 people confirmed on the group. Once we've reached the minimum we will send out an announcement and then you can finalize your flight arrangements.

For those of you who will be making your own airline arrangements - You may arrive in Mendoza at any time on Nov. 10th and depart from Buenos Aires at anytime on Nov. 18th.

Important Note: Sunday, November 14th / Flight from Mendoza to Buenos Aires

On Sunday, November 14th, you need to book LAN #4241 from Mendoza to Buenos Aires' Aeroparque Jorge Newbery (AEP) Airport.

Please Note:

  1. Remember that the flight from Mendoza should fly directly into the AEP airport, Buenos Aires domestic airport.
  2. To be on the safe side, please send us a copy of your proposed flight itinerary before you pay for your tickets.

DOCUMENTATION

Passport: For travel to Argentina, U.S. citizens are required to carry a passport that is valid for at least 6 months after your arrival in Argentina. For citizens of other countries, please call ETC Services for more specific requirements.

Homeland Security regulations require that all passengers travel in the same name as is shown on their passport. Passengers will be denied boarding if the name on the ticket and passport are not the same. If a name change has occurred (due to marriage, for instance), it is strongly suggested that you renew your passport to the correct and current name. Contact ETC Services for further information.

Tourist Tax: A fee of $131.00 per person must be paid at Immigration on your initial arrival in Argentina.

INSURANCE

You may want to consider purchasing travel medical, baggage and trip cancellation insurance. You just never know what may happen to you, a traveling companion or an immediate family member!! We use a company called TravelEx Insurance Services that offers two levels of coverage -- TravelLite and Travel Plus. Rates are dependent on the total cost of the trip (air and land) and the age of the traveler.

Complete brochures are available either by hard copy or e-mail. Let us know what you prefer. In order to cover “pre-existing medical conditions”, coverage should be purchased within 21 days of your tour deposit.
